What is it?
Jumpshare is a simple to use tool that allows you to add files and share them instantly with other people. It is similar to dropbox in that capacity, but unlike dropbox, jumpshare will work through most school filters. (Dropbox is blocked at my school).
Using jumpshare, you can share 200 different file types including documents, multimedia presentations, pictures and videos from any Internet enabled device. Jumpshare has a free and paid version. With the free version you can upload as many files as you want up to 2GB of storage and files can be no bigger than 250MB. With the paid version, you get up to 100GB of storage space and files can be any size. (In case you are wondering, computers break down files into little bits of information. These pieces of information make up file sizes. For example, PDF files are smaller than picture files. Picture files are much bigger because they have more pieces of information that the computer needs to break down. See picture below for a further explanation)
To begin using jumpshare, you need to sign up for a free account. Then you can add files and designate who you want to share them with as well as how you want the file shared. (e-mail, link, social media). When you share a file, you get an e-mail notification that lets you know the files were shared and when the files were opened by the people you shared them with. No more of those “I didn’t get the file” excuses! With jumpshare, you know instantly when the shared files have been accessed. When a file is accessed by someone, he/she will be given the option to open or save the file to their personal device.
You can also “tag” files using jumpshare. What “tagging” means is that you are assigning a label to that file for easier organization purposes. So for example, you could tag files as personal and work related. People can only see the files you choose to share. They do not need a username or password to access what you share.
