How does it work?
This comic creator is one of the many interactive activities offered by the readwritethink.org site. (One of favorite websites-more on the different tools they offer later!) Using this tool, students can create comic strips that contain 1, 2, 3 or 6 panels. Students can select props, characters and thought/speech bubbles using a simple click and drag interface. This comic creator is easy to use, but the one downfall is there is no save option. My suggestion would be to have the students plan out their strips before they make them, have them do one play session before they create their strips, then have them create their strips during another class session. If students still need more time to complete their strips than they have for their allocated class time, they could print out the panels they have created, then use scissors and glue to put the strips together. Look at the pictures below to see how the interface works. When students are finished, they click on finish to print out their work.
