What are they and how are they used?
The above tools are all online graphic organizers for specific types of essays: General, Persuasion and Compare and Contrast. These tools help students develop their thoughts and ideas and assist them with understanding the writing process. Students can print out their saved maps, as well as save their work if they are not done typing in their information. These organizers can be used for any class that requires students to write information about a research project. Since these organizers are online, students can also create their organizers at home and then use their completed maps to type their first drafts of their essays in class.
For the compare and contrast map, you could use the interactive guide below to help explain to students the different types of compare and contrast essays (whole to whole, similarities to differences, point to point) before you have students complete their map.
