For today tech snack, I would like to share a tool that is sparks interests and makes reviewing content relevant, and stimulating.
Today’s tech snack can be found at the following url:http://quizizz.com/ .
What is it and how can I use it with my students?
Quizizz is a free game based classroom response system that allows you to gather feedback from students through any Internet-connected device including tablets, laptops and smart phones. These game based activities provide real-time results and data in a fun and engaging manner for your students. This tool works best when used concurrently with an lcd projector, but if you do not have access to that type of equipment, it can also be used without one.
Check out the video below to see how quizizz works:
Students do not need an account to access the activity. They simply need to go to their web browser on their personal device( laptops, tablets, smart phones, etc) , go to the quizizz website and type in the pin number they are given. The pin number gives the students access to the game questions. **There is no limit to the number of students who can access the activity at one time, but someone needs to be the one who launches the game. (game master.) The game master (teacher or student leading activity) can be launched from any device.
This allows more time for more complex questions. Students earn points for speed and accuracy. Unlike other sites, both teacher and students are able to see the questions, answers, and the leader board throughout the quiz. Most other tools require the teacher to project the answers and leader board on a whiteboard. The leader board can be turned OFF in this tool as well. When students finish their quiz, they can review their questions while they wait for the results and multiple classrooms can be engaged in the same game at the same time!
Ah, yes a tech snack that is easy to use and provides an engaging way to review content! I will have seconds please!
