What is it?
Quizalize is a free game based classroom response system that allows you to gather feedback from students through any Internet-connected device including tablets, laptops and smart phones. Similar to other game based response systems like kahoot and quizizz, quizalize is an engaging way to have students review content.
To begin using quizalize, you have to make a free teacher account. You can then create quizzes by adding questions for the students. You can make a quiz from scratch or copy an existing game from their marketplace. If you copy an existing game from their marketplace you can edit the contents to fit the needs of your students. After you have created your quiz, you can save it and then it can be used by your students.
Sharing a quiz with students is easy. When you are ready to share the quiz, you simply click on share and then the system will ask you what class is the game for. If you haven’t created a class, you can simply click on the add a class feature. Adding a class just requires you to name the class ( example Biology 5). You do not need to add students names to the class nor do students need a username and password to access your quiz. Once you have created your class, you will be given a quiz game code.
Students access the quiz, by going to the following link: https://live.zzish.com/student/code. Students then just put in the code and are ready to take your quiz..
All three tools can be used on any Internet enabled device and are free. All three give live results. With quizizz and quizalize, students quizzes can completed while in class or at home as homework. The main difference between this tool and others out there is that quizalize randomly puts students into two teams and they are competing against each other as teams not individuals. Teachers, however, can get individual results for each student and see which students are doing well or which students may be struggling with the content. You can then you this data to gear instruction and focus on the topics that students need help with rather than the content they have mastered.
All quiz results can be printed out as reports. Quizalize, therefore is a good formative assessment tool that you can use in your classroom to differentiate and personalize instruction. Since quizzes can be done at school or at home, it can be used to create flipped or blended learning environment. It is a great tool to use to help discover prior knowledge and experience.
