Today’s tech snack can be found at the following url: http://www.lessonpaths.com/.
What is it and how can I use it in the classroom?
Lessonpaths is an online tool that is similar to two tech snacks that I previously reviewed-blendspace andsmartbinder- in that you can add content, assessments, and tracking information in one central location for students to access. The main difference between these three tools is the look and feel of the interfaces they use. The way lessonpaths operates is that it allows you to view and create “playlists” which consists of links to online content correlated to a specific topic. Each piece of content added to a playlist is called a “step” and one navigates between “steps” by clicking on left or right arrow icons on the screen. When you add a “step” you add content by either adding a direct url link, uploading a file, writing direct text into a word processing box, or creating a pop quiz. Your playlists can contain as many “steps” as you want.
Implications for the classroom:
Lessonpaths is a great tool for sharing content. Since it is a web-based tool that can be accessed and used at any time of day, it is a perfect tool for creating a flipped, or blended learning environment. Using Lessonpaths students can go through the content at their own pace and review content as needed. You could create your own playlists with classroom resources or have students view and add content to an existing playlist as a whole class activity.
Oh this tech snack has potential. It is free, relevant and useful for our digital native students. The classroom environment is changing rapidly. At least there is a tool that makes the transition a little easier….delicious! Happy snacking!
